AdvertisementWest Plains regional sales reportThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,000 head, Oct. 27, compared to 3,107 head, last week and 3,857 head, last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers at 400 to 500 pounds were steady, 500 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 higher, steers over 750 pounds were $2 mostly $3 higher. Heifers were mostly steady, although several high quality, at 400 to 600 pounds, were $1 to $3 higher and some instances load lots of plainer 750-weight yearlings were $2 up. A narrow test on weights under 400 pounds, however a few sales were weak with little interest. The supply was moderate. Demand was moderate to good, with most buyers showing a little more go to power this week. The supply consisted of 54% steer and 46% heifers, with nearly 45% over 600 pounds.
