Watertown livestock sales report

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 650 head Oct. 28, compared to 500 head last week, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $1 higher, feeder heifers were steady in a light test. Feeder steers made up 85% of the sale, feeder heifers made up 15%, with 97% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 460 lbs., 105.00; 31 head, 644 lbs., 101.50 calves; 864 to 891 lbs., 94.10; 907 to 909 lbs., 89.75 to 92.30 (91.72). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 802 lbs., 91.75; 867 to 886 lbs., 87.10 to 88.75 (87.30); 60 head, 988 lbs., 86.75; 1009 to 1017 lbs., 86.00. Large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 1185 lbs., 78.50. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 791 to 842 lbs., 55.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 489 lbs., 91.00; 24 head, 629 lbs., 90.00 calves; 11 head, 740 lbs., 89.50; 16 head, 853 to 890 lbs., 85.00 to 88.75 (88.02); 11 head, 1055 lbs., 79.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 1037 lbs., 76.25. Large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 1185 lbs., 77.00.
