Springfield dairy heifer sale

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 769 head Oct. 27, compared to 529 head last month and 692 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Springfield, Mo. Demand and supply were moderate and included 10% springer heifers, 20% bred heifers, 45% open heifers, 5% fresh cows, 5% bred and springer cows, and 2% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise, and prices per head.

Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme Registered 1225.00 to 1300.00. Approved 1000.00 to 1200.00, Crossbreds 975.00 to 1075.00. Medium 700.00 to 940.00, Crossbreds 600.00 to 935.00. Common 240.00 to 485.00. Heifers, bred three to six months, Supreme 1050.00 to 1225.00. Approved 835.00 to 1000.00, Crossbreds 800.00 to 1050.00. Medium 600.00 to 750.00, Crossbreds 600.00 to 790.00. Common Crossbreds 500.00 to 560.00. Heifers, bred one to three months, Supreme 990.00 to 1100.00. Approved 800.00 to 975.00, Crossbreds 800.00 to 985.00. Medium 550.00 to 750.00, Crossbreds 560.00 to 710.00. Common 225.00 to 475.00, Crossbreds 375.00 to 470.00.

Springer cows: Bred seven to nine months, Approved 810.00 to 825.00. Medium 600.00 to 750.00, Crossbreds 600.00 to 775.00. Cows bred one to six months, Approved Individual 910.00. Medium 550.00 to 725.00, Jerseys 725.00 to 850.00. Common 330.00 to 535.00.

Baby calves: Holstein heifers 200.00 to 260.00. Holstein bulls 50.00 to 65.00. Crossbred heifers 55.00 to 230.00.
