Amarillo livestock auction reportThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 3,130 head Oct. 27, compared to 1,615 head last week and 1,125 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, 300- to 600-pound feeder heifers were $4 to $6 higher, and heifers over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Trade was active with good demand. The supply consisted of several consignments of high quality Medium and large frame 1 to 2, steer and heifer calves. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 20% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 4% and feeders 75%. The feeder supply included 55% steers and bulls and 45% heifers, with approximately 40% of the feeders over 600 pounds.
