High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Oct. 25, totaled 161,410 head, compared to 135,334 head last week and 147,392 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,483 head, 1,350 to 1,520 lbs., 78.00 to 85.00 (82.43); 65 to 80% Choice 7,485 head, 1,215 to 1,475 lbs., 79.00 to 86.00 (83.68); 35 to 65% Choice, 23,526 head, 1,150 to 1,465 lbs., 82.00 to 86.50 (85.17); 0 to 35% Choice, 508 head, 1,248 to 1,450 lbs., 84.50 to 86.00 (85.19). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 4,946 head, 803 to 963 lbs., 125.00 to 134.00 (131.84); 65 to 80% Choice, 15,495 head, 794 to 984 lbs., 128.00 to 134.00 (131.50); 35 to 65% Choice, 7,975 head, 794 to 950 lbs., 125.00 to 136.00 (131.59); 0 to 35% Choice, 291 head, 895 to 896 lbs., 132.00 to 136.00 (133.94).
