St. Onge livestock auction

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 4,370 head Oct. 23, compared to 4,028 head last week and 4,444 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week's sale, feeder steers and heifers weighing under 600 pounds sold mostly $2 to $3 higher. Feeder steers over 600 pounds sold mostly $4 to $6 higher with heifers weighing over 600 pounds selling $1 higher. Buyer attendance was good with good demand and active trade. The supply consisted of approximately 59% steers, 41% heifers, and 22% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 322 to 337 lbs., 133.00 to 135.00 (134.07); 386 to 399 lbs., 123.00 to 127.00 (125.24); 423 to 448 lbs., 116.00 to 121.00 (117.44); 403 to 422 lbs., 123.00 to 129.00 (127.73) value added; 472 to 496 lbs., 107.25 to 111.50 (109.94); 452 to 470 lbs., 113.00 to 117.00 (115.02) value added; 500 to 540 lbs., 103.00 to 107.50 (106.06); 558 to 595 lbs., 95.75 to 97.50 (96.74); 556 to 598 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00 (101.25) value added; 600 to 643 lbs., 96.00 to 102.25 (100.59) calves; 41 head, 636 lbs., 104.50 value added; 650 to 661 lbs., 94.00 to 97.00 (96.07) calves; 59 head, 841 lbs., 97.25; 22 head, 871 lbs., 87.50 to 88.00 (87.82); 932 to 936 lbs., 96.00; 62 head, 1031 lbs., 86.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 524 to 533 lbs., 99.50 to 101.00 (100.12).
