AdvertisementSalina cattle sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,115 head Oct. 23, compared to 1,546 head last week and 1,850 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, steers at 350 to 700 pounds were not enough for a market test, but the bulk were steady. Steers at 500 to 550 pounds were firm, and at 700 to 1,000 pounds were steady to $4 higher. Heifers at 450 to 700 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and 700 to 900 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Receipts included 85% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. Trade and demand were good. The feeder supply included 44% steers and 56% heifers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 109.50 to 116.50 (112.93); 450 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 107.00 (106.01); 500 to 550 lbs., 105.00 to 107.50 (106.10); 700 to 750 lbs., 94.25 to 99.00 (96.65); 750 to 800 lbs., 93.50 to 95.25 (94.49); 800 to 850 lbs., 93.00 to 96.10 (94.10); 850 to 900 lbs., 92.00; 58 head, 998 lbs., 85.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 550 lbs., 95.25 to 96.00 (95.52); 550 to 600 lbs., 94.50 to 97.75 (96.14); 600 to 650 lbs., 93.00 to 94.00 (93.62); 650 to 700 lbs., 93.00 to 96.75 (95.71); 800 to 850 lbs., 87.50 to 87.75 (87.61); 6 head, 928 lbs., 86.00. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 549 lbs., 93.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 90.50 to 92.00 (91.25).
