Georgia cattle auction summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Oct. 23, totaled 10,208 head, compared to 10,057 head last week and 10,190 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2 higher, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher, steer calves and heifer calves were steady to $1 higher, and replacement cows were steady to $2 lower. The offering included 10% steers over 600 pounds, 34% steers under 600 pounds, 8% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 12% slaughter cows and 1% bulls.
