Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,035 head Oct. 22, compared to 2,113 head last week and 2,513 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm to $3 higher, and some instances were $5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to weak. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 12% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, and feeders 87%. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers, with nearly 41% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 122.00 to 132.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00, pre-conditioned 135.00 to 136.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 115.00, pre-conditioned 117.00 to 117.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 104.50, pre-conditioned 107.00 to 108.00; load 613 lbs., 96.50, 600 to 700 lb. calves 87.50 to 93.50, pre-conditioned 93.50 to 95.00; 700 to 800 lb. calves 86.75 to 88.00; two loads 815 to 897 lbs., 88.25 to 91.00, lot 840 lb. calves 85.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 106.00 to 114.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 85.50 to 89.50, package 593 lbs., thin 93.50; package 680 lb. calves 87.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 85.00 to 88.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 84.50 to 89.00, calves 80.00 to 81.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 101.00 to 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 99.00, load 467 lbs., 102.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 84.50 to 90.50, pre-conditioned 90.50 to 93.00; lot 653 lbs., 92.75, 600 to 700 lb. calves 81.00 to 85.75, pre-conditioned 87.00 to 89.00; load 740 lbs., 89.75, 700 to 800 lb. calves 81.00 to 83.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 90.00 to 93.50; few 400 to 500 lbs., 85.00 to 85.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 82.50 to 85.50; two packages 756 to 762 lbs., 80.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 47.00 to 48.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.50 to 48.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.75 to 45.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 40.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 32.00 to 37.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 54.00 to 54.50.
