Colorado feeder cattle summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 12,800 head Oct. 23, compared to 7,975 head last week and 9,932 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were mostly steady except for 300 to 400 pounds was sharply higher due to increase supply and buyer interest. Steer and heifer calves at 600 to 700 pounds were mostly steady. Feeder steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and over 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers over 600 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Demand was moderate. Trade activity was moderate to active. The supply was made up of 59% feeder steers, and the balance was feeder heifers, including about 40% of over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 300 to 340 lbs., 118.00 to 143.00, mostly 118.00 to 126.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 126.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 95.50 to 119.00, mostly 110.00 to 119.00; 455 to 500 lbs., 97.00 to 113.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 95.00 to 108.25; 550 to 600 lbs., 91.50 to 103.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 90.00 to 96.50, calves 89.00 to 95.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 98.00, calves 86.50 to 92.85; 700 to 735 lbs., 87.50 to 95.00, calves 87.50 to 90.00; 750 to 795 lbs., 87.00 to 97.50; 820 to 850 lbs., 87.85 to 94.00; 865 to 885 lbs., 89.50 to 91.00; 905 to 910 lbs., 86.00 to 91.00; 950 to 995 lbs., 82.50 to 88.85; 1020 to 1040 lbs., 77.25 to 78.25.
