North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 2,571 head Nov. 11, compared to 1,972 head last week and 1,191 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $3 to $5 lower. Feeder steers and bulls under 550 pounds were $4 to $7 lower over 550 pounds were steady to $3 lower. Feeder heifers were mostly $1 to $4 lower instances were $6 lower. The supply included about 1780 feeder calves, 400 feeder yearlings, 100 replacement cows, 265 slaughter cows, and 26 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 45% steers, 37% heifers, and 18% bulls, with nearly 26% of the run over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 35.00 to 38.00; high dressing, 39.00 to 41.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 34.00 to 39.00; high dressing, 40.00 to 44.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 32.00 to 38.00; high dressing, 39.00 to 43.00; low dressing, 25.00 to 31.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 25.00 to 32.00; high dressing, 34.00 to 35.00; low dressing, 15.00 to 25.00; weak 10.00 to 15.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 52.50; low dressing, 35.00 to 44.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 710.00 to 820.00 per pair; 200- to 300-lb. calves, 820.00 to 970.00 per pair; 7 to 10 years old, with 100- to 300-lb. calves, 630.00 to 750.00 per pair.
