Albany County panel approves wind farm permit

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP)--The Albany County Commission has approved a permit for a wind farm that will straddle the Albany County-Carbon County line.

The commissioners on Nov. 3 approved the permit for 28 1.5-megawatt wind turbines for the North Rim wind farm that will be owned and operated by AES Wind Generation.

North Rim will straddle the Albany County-Carbon County line on 2,143 acres of private property about three miles west of Rock River. Nine additional turbines would be on the Carbon County side.

The wind farm will have a total electric generating capacity of 55.5 megawatts.

Officials say construction should begin in May or June and end in October 2010.
