Golden Plains Area Agronomist named

Colorado

Colorado State University Extension is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Meyer to the position of Golden Plains Area Agronomist. The Golden Plains Area is a five county partnership between Kit Carson, Yuma, Phillips, Washington, and Sedgwick counties. This position is based in Burlington, Colo., and is responsible for discovering and teaching the most advanced technologies available to agriculture, delivering those technologies locally, and providing educational programming to local producers and agribusiness.

Meyer has extensive agronomic experience and has previously been employed with North Dakota State University, Colorado State University and private industry. In addition, he has more than 140 publications and has been invited to speak to groups across the nation regarding new plant science advances. In addition, Meyer is also currently serving as executive director for the Colorado Sunflower Administrative Committee.

Dennis Kaan, Golden Plains Area Director states, "I am pleased with this appointment as Ron is a skilled plant scientist with expertise in researching crop production strategies and educating producers. Further, Ron has an established track record of building collaborative relationships across disciplines to solve local agronomic challenges."

Meyer will continue to reside in Burlington with his wife, Linda, children Matthew and Allie, and can be reached at the CSU Golden Plains Area Extension office located in Burlington at 719-346-5571.
