Clovis livestock sales report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 5,090 head Nov. 4, compared to 3,314 head last week and 3,373 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last month, Holstein steers were steady to $1.50 higher. Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were unevenly steady, over 600 pounds were $3 to $4 higher. Heifers under 600 pounds were $4 to $6 lower except 300 to 400 pounds were steady, over 600 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower, bulls were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 9% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1%, bred cows 2%, pairs less than 1%, and feeders 88%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 49% of the run, Holstein steers 20%, heifers 31%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 28%.

Holstein slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1855 to 1880 lbs., 50.00 to 53.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1080 to 1555 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 600.00 to 720.00, per head; middle-aged to aged, 865 to 1230 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 450.00 to 575.00, per head; aged, 855 to 1065 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 300.00 to 390.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1045 to 1245 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, 800.00 to 810.00 per pair.
