Arkansas livestock auction summary

The weekly summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas showed estimated receipts of 12,120 head Nov. 5, compared to 8,536 head last week and 9,122 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold weak to mostly $1 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Feeders sold unevenly, steers sold mostly steady, heifers and bulls were steady, with instances of $1 to $3 higher on calves. The supply included 7,995 stocker and feeder calves, 2,200 feeder yearlings, 620 replacement cows, 1,190 slaughter cows and 116 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 43% yearling heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 37.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 43.00 to 46.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 37.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 43.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 34.00 to 37.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 34.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 40.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 27.00 to 34.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 27.00 to 33.00; low dressing, 15.00 to 26.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 48.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 48.00.

Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 5 to 10 years old, 750 to 950 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 400.00 to 500.00/pair few down to 350.00.
