Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,659 head, May 14, compared to 4,403 head, last week and 6,248 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers at 750 to 1,000 pounds were steady to $4 higher. Heifers at 700 to 850 pounds were steady to $3 higher, and a few at 850 to 900 pounds were weak to $1 lower. Steers at 750 pounds and under and heifers at 700 pounds and under were too few for a market test, but limited sales were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active and demand was good. Receipts 86% 600 pounds and over, 95 600 pounds and under, 5% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers.
