Dou to research integrated cropping systems in Beaumont

Dr. Fugen Dou has been named integrated cropping systems nutrient management scientist for Texas AgriLife Research in Beaumont.
A significant aspect of Dou's research will focus on nutrient transport and the response of rice to nutrient availability. Other research will include evaluating agricultural management practices on carbon and nitrogen soil biogeochemistry, modeling plant nutrition uptake, soil structure and bioenergy production.
He received his bachelor's degree from Zhejiang University in China, master's from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and doctorate in soil science at Texas A&M University.
