Dodge City livestock sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,573 head May 13, compared to 3,417 head last week and 3,703 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, on a light offering, steers at 300 to 700 pounds were firm to $2 higher, and heifers at 450 to 650 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Steers at 700 to 950 pounds were firm to $2 higher, and heifers at 650 to 900 pounds were steady to firm. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were firm to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 77% over 600 pounds, 10% under 600 pounds, and 13% slaughter cows and bulls with 335 early. The feeder supply consisted of 53% steer and 47% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 55.00 to 57.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 52.50 to 56.00; low dressing, 46.50 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 49.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.50 to 57.50; low dressing, 42.50 to 48.50. Lt lean, 46.50 to 47.50; low dressing, 38.00 to 43.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 63.50 to 68.50; high dressing, 69.50 to 74.00; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.00.
