Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,911 head May 14, compared to 2,123 head last week and 1,626 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm to $2 higher, instances 300- to 450-pound steers were $3 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 230- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 17% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, and feeders 82%. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers, with nearly 49% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 232 lbs., 144.00, lot 232 lbs., pre-conditioned 163.80; 300 to 400 lbs., pre-conditioned 139.50 to 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00, two packages 403 to 417 lbs., 134.75 to 137.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 123.00 to 127.50, package 551 lbs., 119.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.50 to 106.50, pre-conditioned 108.50 to 113.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 101.50, thin 104.00 to 106.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 94.00 to 96.75; two lots 903 to 989 lbs., 89.00 to 91.85. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, two packages 206 to 223 lbs., pre-conditioned 123.00 to 145.00; few 400 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00; package 692 lbs., 97.50, two loads 606 lbs., thin 111.75; lot 739 lbs., 95.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., pre-conditioned 130.00 to 131.50; 300 to 400 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00, package 383 lbs., 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.50 to 113.00; two packages 516 to 581 lbs., 95.50 to 104.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.50 to 95.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 90.75; lot 851 lbs., 87.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, two packages 226 to 227 lbs., 105.75 to 112.80; 300 to 400 lbs., 107.00 to 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 101.50; package 580 lbs., 95.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 91.25, load 656 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 2, package 559 lbs., 92.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 53.00 to 54.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 51.50 to 53.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 56.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 53.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 49.50 to 51.50; low dressing, 44.00 to 47.50.

Dairy cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% 1600 to 1800 lbs., 49.50 to 50.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1400 to 1600 lbs., 48.75 to 50.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 46.50 to 49.00; low dressing, 40.50 to 45.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1900 lbs., 63.00 to 65.00.
