Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 1,834 head May 13, compared to 2,700 head last week and 1,404 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were unevenly steady to $3 lower. Heifers under 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower, over 600 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher except lean cows were $2 lower. Bulls were $1.50 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 19% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, bred cows 3%, pairs 7%, feeders 70%. In feeder supply, steers made up approximately 39% of the run, heifers 61%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds total 63%.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 2030 lbs., 59.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 1000 to 1570 lbs., 54.00 to 57.25. Holsteins, Yield grade 1 to 2, 1360 to 2175 lbs., 60.00 to 66.75.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1010 to 1200 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 560.00 to 775.00, per head; middle-aged to aged, 900 to 1360 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 590.00 to 650.00, per head; aged, 930 to 1241 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 510.00 to 580.00.

First calf heifers: Few, 760 to 800 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 560.00 to 590.00, per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 850 to 1185 lbs., with 80- to 200-lb. calves, 550.00 to 770.00, per pair.
