Amarillo livestock auction report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,317 head May 19, compared to 820 head last week and 1,031 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers had no adequate price trend available, however a higher undertone was noted over 800 pounds. Feeder heifers were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 122.00, two packages 411 lbs., fancy 126.00 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 102.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 97.00 to 99.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 90.50 to 96.00; lot 911 lbs., 90.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 95.50; 725 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 92.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 488 lbs., 100.00; lot 520 lbs., 99.00; pen 775 lbs., 85.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 106.00, package 488 lbs., thin 112.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 102.00; 625 to 650 lbs., 94.00 to 96.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 91.50 to 94.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 291 lbs., 113.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 102.50 to 110.00, 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 95.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 89.00 to 90.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 89.00 to 90.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 47.50 to 50.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 49.00 to 51.25; high dressing, 53.00 to 54.50; low dressing, 44.00 to 46.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 48.00; low dressing, 39.00 to 43.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 41.50.

Dairy cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 2150 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1700 lbs., 48.00 to 52.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 42.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 39.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 1895 lbs., 61.50 to 66.50; high dressing, 1805 lbs., 67.85; low dressing, 1690 lbs., 58.00. Dairy bulls, 1415 to 1780 lbs., 64.00 to 66.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 750 to 800 lbs., 1 to 3 months bred, 78.75 to 85.00 per cwt; young 700 to 900 lbs., heifers 4 to 5 months bred, 510.00 to 625.00 per head; young, 900 to 1250 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 700.00 to 850.00; middle-aged, 1310 lbs., cow 8 months bred, 860.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 75- to 125-lb. calves, 800.00 to 975.00 per pair; middle-aged to aged, with 100- to 150-lb. calves, 975.00 to 1075.00 per pair.
