Iowa State University's Young Agricultural Marketers keep top national standing

A team of students from Iowa State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has been named the top National Agri-Marketing Association student chapter in the nation for the second consecutive year.

The team received the award at the association's annual conference and trade show April 15 to 17 in Atlanta, Ga. They also participated in NAMA's annual marketing competition advancing to the semifinal round before elimination by the eventual contest winners, the University of Florida. Overall, 30 student NAMA chapters participated in the competition.

Team members included: Josie Rudolphi, Marengo; Ryan Hrubes, Garner; Justina Frost, DeWitt; Megan Fischer, Minden; Laura Larson, Nora Springs; Grant Christensen, Manning; Abby Gooder, Cresco; Amy Flahive, Albia; Andrew Rudolphi, Marengo; Britney Heim, New Albin; Carly Cummings, Pleasantville; Darrin Rahn, Mt. Carroll, Ill.; Elizabeth Burns-Thompson, Marion; Jenenetta Marisclan, Morgan Hill, Calf.; Katie Stutsman, Iowa City; Maddi Sieck, Glenwood; Matt Dirksen, Danbury; Mitch Hemesath, Decorah; Sarah Ingwesen Spirit Lake; Nathan Nedved, Garner. The team is coached by Stacey Noe, program coordinator, and Lori Youngberg, program assistant.

As part of the annual competition, students develop a plan to successfully bring a product or service to the marketplace. The Iowa State NAMA team marketed ImmunAttain--a maternal colostrums replacer for dairy calves. Teams submitted a written plan and made a formal presentation of their marketing plan which was judged by a panel of marketing and agribusiness professionals.
