Finalists announced for 2009 Leopold Conservation Award in ColoradoColorado Sand County Foundation, the Colorado Cattlemen's Association, Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust and EnCana Oil & Gas Inc., are proud to announce the finalists for the 2009 Leopold Conservation Award in Colorado. The Leopold Conservation Award, named in honor of world-renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, is comprised of $10,000 and a Leopold crystal. The award is presented annually in seven states to private landowners who practice responsible land stewardship and management. "These finalists were chosen from a number of exceptional, well-deserving nominees," said Dr. Brent Haglund, Sand County Foundation president. "The nominees' all utilize conservation as an important tool within agriculture. This is proof that Aldo Leopold's land ethic continues to thrive in the work Colorado ranchers and farmers do from day to day."
