Moran conservation tour

CONSERVATION TOUR--Rep. Jerry Moran, R-KS, surveys a stream bank stabilization project on the farm of Larry and Edie Dahlsten, south of Lindsborg, Kan., during his ninth Partners in Conservation tour. Attendees learned how government programs, conservation groups and private landowners partner to protect the environment. The Dahlsten's project involves stabilizing 1,200 feet of stream bank along the Smoky Hill River. The project includes resloping the existing bank, placement of seven weirs to stabilize the toe and reestablishing the native vegetation on the bank and buffer area. The tour included seven stops in McPherson and Saline counties. (Journal photo by Larry Dreiling.)
