Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,543 head Feb. 25, compared to 3,314 head last week and 1,554 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers were steady to $3 lower, Holsteins under 600 pounds were $3 to $6 higher on a light test, over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher, heifers under 600 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, over 600 pounds were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. Flesh condition ran the full spectrum from fleshy to thin. The warm, dry weather has brought several local buyers into the market to bid on grazing cattle. The feeder supply included 38% steers, 16% Holsteins, 36% heifers, 10% bulls, with 48% over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 106.00 to 117.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 104.50, package thin 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 85.00 to 90.50; 700 to 750 lbs., few 84.00 to 85.50; package 843 lbs., 82.50; package 908 lbs., 82.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 386 lbs., 79.00; 400 to 475 lbs., 69.00 to 74.50; 525 to 550 lbs., 66.00 to 67.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 57.00 to 63.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 56.00 to 59.50; package 861 lbs., 53.50; 900 to 975 lbs., 55.50 to 58.00; 1000 to 1025 lbs., 52.50.
