Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 1,765 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,703 head last week and 1,415 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were $5 to $10 higher. Stocker and feeders goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $5 to $10 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 90 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 55.00; pairs, 36.00 to 41.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 140 lbs., 85.00 to 100.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 130.00 to 152.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 140 lbs., 45.00 to 55.00. Slaughter bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 50.00 to 60.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 20 to 40 lbs., 130.00 to 150.00; 40 to 60 lbs., 140.00 to 160.00, few to 170.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 140.00 to 160.00, few to 167.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 135.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 45.00 to 60.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 75.00 to 85.00, few light weights 90.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 80 to 110 lbs., 85.00 to 100.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 50.00 to 75.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 61.00.
