Denison feeder cattle report

The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,096 head Feb. 26, compared to 2,380 head last week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was a calf and yearling sale. Compared to two weeks ago, steers under 700 pound were $5 to $6 lower and steers over 700 pounds were $2 higher, heifers were steady except for 500- to 600-pounds were $10 higher due to large consignment. Moderate supply with good demand. The receipts included 5% steers and 42% heifers, with 64% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 402 to 413 lbs., 116.00 to 116.50 (116.35); 478 to 499 lbs., 108.50 to 114.25 (111.27); 517 to 548 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00 (108.10); 575 to 591 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00 (105.41); 621 to 626 lbs., 95.75 to 103.50 (99.18); 651 to 692 lbs., 97.00 to 104.00 (99.65); 703 to 738 lbs., 88.00 to 96.00 (95.06); 750 to 760 lbs., 94.75 to 97.25 (95.83); 800 to 828 lbs., 91.75 to 92.25 (92.19); 856 to 876 lbs., 87.50 to 96.60 (94.82); 13 head, 938 lbs., 85.25.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 403 to 441 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00 (104.75); 16 head, 479 to 486 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00 (100.62); 504 to 533 lbs., 99.50 to 109.00 (106.26); 558 to 580 lbs., 98.75 to 105.00 (103.88); 611 to 646 lbs., 87.50 to 92.25 (88.93); 705 to 728 lbs., 80.50 to 87.75 (85.64); 21 head, 769 lbs., 87.25; 801 to 845 lbs., 84.75; 5 head, 886 lbs., 83.00. Medium frame 1, 505 to 533 lbs., 90.00 to 97.25 (93.48).
