The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,096 head Feb. 26, compared to 2,380 head last week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.
This was a calf and yearling sale. Compared to two weeks ago, steers under 700 pound were $5 to $6 lower and steers over 700 pounds were $2 higher, heifers were steady except for 500- to 600-pounds were $10 higher due to large consignment. Moderate supply with good demand. The receipts included 5% steers and 42% heifers, with 64% over 600 pounds.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 402 to 413 lbs., 116.00 to 116.50 (116.35); 478 to 499 lbs., 108.50 to 114.25 (111.27); 517 to 548 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00 (108.10); 575 to 591 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00 (105.41); 621 to 626 lbs., 95.75 to 103.50 (99.18); 651 to 692 lbs., 97.00 to 104.00 (99.65); 703 to 738 lbs., 88.00 to 96.00 (95.06); 750 to 760 lbs., 94.75 to 97.25 (95.83); 800 to 828 lbs., 91.75 to 92.25 (92.19); 856 to 876 lbs., 87.50 to 96.60 (94.82); 13 head, 938 lbs., 85.25.
