Dalhart cattle sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,584 head Feb. 26, compared to 1,490 head last week and 1,966 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were firm, over 600 pounds were $4 higher. Feeder heifers were firm to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 25% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 7%, and feeders 67%. The feeder supply included 62% steers and 38% heifers, with nearly 73% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 381 lbs., 123.00; few 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 110.00, load 516 lbs., 119.85; few 600 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 94.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 91.25 to 95.10; few 800 to 900 lbs., 84.00 to 89.00; lot 932 lbs., 84.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00; load 641 lbs., 91.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 87.00 to 88.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 451 lbs., 96.00; lot 551 lbs., 91.00; package 633 lbs., 88.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 90.50 to 98.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 86.00 to 91.00, package 502 lbs., 95.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 83.50 to 87.75; package 720 lbs., 84.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 80.25 to 82.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 76.00 to 78.50. Medium and large frame 2, few 500 to 600 lbs., 75.00 to 81.00; package 650 lbs., 81.00. Heiferettes, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, load 721 lbs., 70.75.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 44.00 to 48.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 43.50 to 47.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 43.50 to 48.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 40.00 to 44.50; low dressing, 31.00 to 36.00.

Dairy cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1700 lbs., 43.50 to 45.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 43.50 to 45.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.50 to 46.00; low dressing, 32.50 to 39.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1700 lbs., 50.00 to 55.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle aged, 900 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred 650.00 to 885.00 per head; young to middle aged, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred 875.00 to 1060.00.
