Clovis livestock sales report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 2,690 head Feb. 25, compared to 2,064 head last week and 1,654 head last year, according to the USDA to New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers unevenly steady except 700 to 800 pounds were $1 higher. Heifers were steady to $1 higher on 600 to 700 pound offerings. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower, bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate early and becoming active and good on late sales of feeders. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 12% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, bred cows 3%, pairs 2%, feeders 81%. The feeder supply included 54% steers, 2% feeder bulls, 44% heifers, with 44% of the run over 600 pounds.
