Bennet lauds Senate passage of key Colorado land, water bills

Colorado

On March 19, the United States Senate approved the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009, legislation that includes several key land and water bills that have strong support among Colorado communities. Michael Bennet, senator for Colorado, supported the measure, which will ensure Colorado communities have reliable access to clean water, protect open space along the Front Range, and preserve Colorado's natural heritage for the enjoyment of generations to come.

"Coloradans have waited a long time to see these bills passed into law, and today's vote brings us one step closer to fulfilling that goal. We wouldn't be where we are today without the hard work of our local communities which came together to find sensible ways to protect our land and water," Bennet said. "These bills will allow us to leave our kids and grandkids with the opportunity to enjoy Colorado's special places and signature landscapes for years to come."

The Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009 will now go to the House of Representatives for consideration.
