Women's Wi$e Up financial train-the-trainer program March 25 in Austin
Young financial professionals needed to teach in community venues
The Financial Literacy Coalition of Central Texas and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will co-present a free Wi$e Up financial education train-the-trainer program in Austin from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., March 25.
The training will take place at the Texas Bankers Association, 203 W. 10th Street.
"The train-the-trainer program is designed for volunteers, especially young women, involved in banking and other financial industries who would like to help other women in the community learn how to improve their own financial security and that of their families," said Jane Parker, AgriLife Extension agent for family and consumer sciences in Travis County.
Parker said attendees would receive objective, credible, relevant financial education training using the Wi$e Up curriculum. The curriculum was developed by AgriLife Extension under contract with the Women's Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor. Training topics will include: "Money for Life," "Credit in a Money World," "Becoming an Investor" and "Achieving Financial Security."
Parker said those receiving the training would coordinate through AgriLife Extension and the coalition to go into the community to provide financial education to women in small group venues, such as schools, churches, community centers and businesses.
"This is an opportunity for women to help others who need help understanding the fundamental aspects of things like credit, investing and saving for the future," Parker said.
