Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 2,885 head March 18, compared to 4,117 head last week and 1,900 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $3 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher. Stocker steers were steady. Limited test on steer and heifer calves. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average to gaunt. The supply included 58% steers, 42% heifers with 97% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 85 cows and bulls sold with 81% to packers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 153 head, 603 lbs., 101.85; 43 head, 651 lbs., 94.50; 63 head, 706 lbs., 94.00; 36 head, 784 lbs., 86.50; 29 head, 996 lbs., 77.50; 11 head, 1004 lbs., 75.75. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1800. Boners, 24 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 45.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 48.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 44.00. Lean, 16 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 45.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 49.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 44.50. Lights, 10 head, 80 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 35.50 to 37.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 19 head, 1400 to 2400 lbs., 56.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 52.50 to 55.00; very low 48.50 to 50.50.
