Sioux Falls sheep sales

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 673 head March 17, compared to 188 head last week and 1,114 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Wooled slaughter lambs sold steady on a limited test. No recent test of slaughter ewes and feeder lambs to establish price trends. Sheep receipts were nearly 20% slaughter lambs with about 43% ewes, 34% feeder lambs and the balance bucks and miscellaneous sheep.

Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 156 to 159 lbs., 93.00 to 94.00. Choice 1 to 2, 117 to 124 lbs., 92.50 to 93.50.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 125 to 179 lbs., 29.00 to 40.00. Good 3 to 4, fleshy, 192 to 225 lbs., 27.00 to 32.00. Utility 1 to 2, Medium flesh, 124 to 190 lbs., 19.00 to 27.00. Cull 1, thin, 118 to 178 lbs., 11.00 to 15.00.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 73 to 78 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00; 91 to 94 lbs., 106.00 to 107.00; 96 to 104 lbs., 110.00 to 112.00; 106 to 112 lbs., 94.50 to 99.00; 19 head, 114 lbs., 100.50.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 50 to 60 lbs., 139.00 to 140.00.
