Nusser named new AgriLife Extension Panhandle district administrator
Danny Nusser will assume the role of Texas AgriLife Extension Service district administrator for the Panhandle District beginning March 2, according to Dr. Darrell Dromgoole, AgriLife Extension associate director-county programs.
Nusser will make the move from his position in Randall County as the agricultural and natural resources agent. He will replace Dr. Galen Chandler, who recently took the AgriLife Extension regional program director-agriculture position for the North Plains region.
Nusser joined AgriLife Extension as an assistant agent in Hale County in 1984, and served in Carson County and Gray County before he took the Randall County position in 2003.
"Danny is highly respected for his ability to effectively develop employees, manage programs, effectively work with AgriLife Extension partners and for his visionary leadership," Dromgoole said.
Nusser was honored in 2001 with the Texas A&M System Agriculture Program's Vice Chancellor's Award in Excellence for his outstanding programming efforts in agriculture and natural resources. In addition, he received AgriLife Extension's highest honor--the Superior Service Award--in 2000.
He was honored again in 2000 by the Texas Association of 4-H Agents with the organization's award in communications. And in 2007, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas County Agricultural Agents Association.
In his new position, Nusser is responsible for supervising and motivating agents in the top 22 counties of the Texas Panhandle.
"I'll be working with county commissioner's courts and stakeholders to continue the excellent educational programs that our agents do," he said.
Nusser is a member of state and national professional Extension organizations, including the Texas County Agricultural Agents Association and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. He earned a master's degree from Texas Tech University and a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University.
