Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 730 head March 13, compared to 2,143 head last week and 2,611 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Lightweight slaughter lambs were $5 to $7 higher, heavy weights were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were steady to firm. Demand was very good. The supply included around 50% sheep including nearly 300 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper pairs, few 47.00 to 54.00 per head. Barbados ewes, few 60 to 90 lbs., thin 36.00 to 38.00.

Slaughter lambs: Choice: 110 to 165 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 128.00 to 148.00. Good, 40 to 80 lbs., 105.00 to 120.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, set 130 lbs., 35.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 135.00 to 150.00, few to 155.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 140.00 to 151.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 49.00, few light weights 57.00 to 64.00, thin 30.00 to 40.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Muttons, Selection 1, few 95 lbs., 104.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Pairs, 24.00 to 49.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, few 110 to 165 lbs., 90.00 to 93.00.
