Arkansas River Basin Water Forum calls for entries to Art and Photography ContestColorado The Arkansas River Basin Water Forum Planning Committee invites submissions for its annual Art and Photography Contest. The theme of the 2009 Contest is "Water to Fuel Our Future." Students in grades K-12 attending a school in the Arkansas River Basin can submit art and photography entries. Entries will be divided by grades--K-2, 3-4, 5-8, and 9-12. Artwork and photographs should be original efforts that focus on the forum theme. The Art Contest accepts two-dimensional flat work of any medium or size, including drawings, paintings, collages, mixed media and digital. All entries should be mounted on mat board, tag board, poster board, card stock or construction paper and labeled on the back with title of work, name, grade, age, school, and teacher. All students with entries will receive certificates of participation. Prizes will be awarded for the top entries as follows: First Prize ($20), Second Prize ($15), and Third Prize ($10). First, second, third and honorable mentions will also be given in each grade division. The Open Photography Contest is open to anyone--students and adults--for color or black and white prints (no slides) of any size. The works must be original and focus on the forum theme "Water to Fuel our Future." All work must be mounted on mat board, tag board, poster board, card stock or construction paper and labeled on the back with title of work, name, address, phone number, and e-mail address (if available). The winning photograph will appear on the forum web page for one year. Prizes will be awarded as follows: First Prize ($100), Second Prize ($50), and Third Prize ($25) The contests will be coordinated by Professor Vicky Hansen in the Department of Art at Colorado State University-Pueblo and judged by the University Art Club. Winners will be announced during the forum luncheon on April 1. The deadline for entries is March 27.
