The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development reports a banner year of program delivery for Nebraska with $195 million infused into the state's rural economy. As outlined in their Fiscal Year 2008 Rural Development Progress Report, the monies assist in areas of housing, business and community development, telecommunications, value-added activities and electricity.

The report shows a breakdown of $69 million expended for housing, $51 million telecommunications, $33 million community facilities and water and wastewater, $23 million for electric, and $19 million for business projects.

USDA Rural Development serves to increase economic opportunity and to improve the quality of life for all rural Americans.
