Farm Fair planned in DownsKansas A Farm Fair is scheduled to be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., March 19 at the Memorial Hall in Downs, Kan., according to Char Henton, Mediation Coordinator for the Kansas Agricultural Mediation Services housed at Kansas State University. The Farm Fair is being hosted by several K-State Research and Extension counties and districts and also by the Kansas Agricultural Mediation Services. The meeting is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. Fair coordinators have invited several organizations, agencies and other interested groups to come and share information about who they are, what they do and how they can help rural communities. Those participating will be given table space to display information and to meet and visit with participants at the event. "Everyone from local libraries and county health departments to agricultural organizations and the Highway Patrol have been invited to participate," Henton explained. Henton said that there will be a very special guest speaker who will address Farm Fair participants at 3 p.m. Stacey Seibel, Attorney from Hays, Kan., will address those attending on the topic, "Estate Planning and Family Transition." Seibel is a fifth generation Kansan and comes from a long-time farm and ranch family. She practices estate law in Hays and has a personal understanding of proper estate planning and the impact on family assets as they pass from generation to generation. She has had first-hand experience in the importance of protecting those investments through the use of Family Limited Partnership and other advanced estate planning techniques. "Everyone should make an effort to attend this important and informative presentation," Henton said.
