Colorado's oldest area livestock organization will meet March 21 in Rocky Ford, Colo.

The annual Bent-Prowers Cattle and Horse Growers Association will mark the start of its 140th year with its annual meeting and banquet. Events will be held at the Chuck Wagon Inn in Rocky Ford. The meeting is open to the ranching community.

Registration begins at noon and the business session starts at 1 p.m., with association and legislative summaries. Representative of the departments of agriculture, brand inspection, forest service and wildlife, as well as the Colorado Beef Council, Colorado Cattlemen's and Colorado CattleWomen's associations are expected to provide updates. Following a break, sponsored by Farm Credit, the association members will consider resolutions and hold elections for Baca, Bent, Kiowa, Otero and Prowers county board representatives.

Following the business meeting, the evening will kick off with the annual Cowboy Punch Bowl social hour at 5:30 p.m., sponsored by La Junta Livestock Commission. The awards banquet, with beef brisket, will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at the door.
