Women in Boots & Blue Jeans conference March 20 and 21Teaches farm women about risk management Missouri A conference to educate farm women about risk management in the areas of marketing, finance and legal issues is set for March 20 and 21 at Tan-Tar-A resort in Osage Beach. "Women in Boots & Blue Jeans: Ag Risk Management" will focus on preparing farm women for the roles and responsibilities of running a farm business, said Mary Sobba, University of Missouri Extension agriculture business specialist. "We have had several women wanting such a conference where they could meet other farm women from across the state," she said. "This is the first time this conference will be held in Missouri. It offers women the opportunity to learn more about the business of farming and networking with others." Sessions will include roundtable discussions on topics such as using QuickBooks, USDA programs and agritourism, she said. Speakers will include Ruth Hambleton, founder of Annie's Project, a national effort designed to empower farm women in business through networking and the managing and organizing of critical information. The $55 registration fee covers conference materials and most meals. Registration deadline is March 16.
