Crop Production Clinic March 19Nebraska A clinic to educate crop producers and others about early season management options is planned for March 19 at University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension's South Central Ag Lab Research Farm near Hastings. The South Central Agricultural Laboratory Crop Clinic is targeted at area crop producers but also will be useful to those advising producers such as crop consultants and fertilizer dealers, said Richard Ferguson, extension soil specialist. "The goal is to educate them on early season management options and to see how those options compare in the field," Ferguson said. The clinic will include field demonstrations on comparing fertilizer application methods and identifying weed species. Presentations will be held on herbicide selection and weed management software as well as research results on fertilizer placement methods. Ferguson and Mark Bernards, UNL Extension weed scientist, will be presenters. The event is expected to be the first in a series of hands-on crop clinics conducted by faculty associated with the ag lab, Ferguson said. The lab has a disease clinic planned June 25. There is no cost for the event and no registration is required. It will be held at the lab, located 12 miles east of Hastings on Highway 6.
