Furnas County Livestock Association to host Beef Tour June 9

Nebraska

The Furnas County Livestock Association Beef Tour will begin at 10 a.m., June 9. The tour will assemble at Power Genetics Feedyard north of Arapahoe, Neb.

Tour schedule (Directions are from the main intersection, Hwy 6 and 34 and Hwy 283 in Arapahoe):

10 a.m.--Power Genetics Feedyard Blue Barn (1 N on Hwy 283, 1 W on Rd 724).

11 a.m.--Flying H Genetics (7 N on Hwy 283 to sign, 4.5 W on Rd 730 to bull test sign, 1.5 S on Rd 420, 0.5 E on Rd 728).

12:30 p.m.--Lunch (Hamburger Cookout sponsored by FCLA) at Izaak Walton (2 S on Hwy 283, ¼ E on Rd 721).

1:30 p.m.--Power Genetics Calving Facility (4 S on Hwy 283, 2 W on Rd 719).

2:30 p.m.--Breinig Simmentals (2 S on Hwy 283, ¾ W on Rd 721).

3 p.m.--DMD Livestock (2 S on Hwy 283, 2 W on Rd 721).

Informational handouts for each of the stops will be available the day of the tour.

Special Tour Guests--Dr. John Comerford, Associate Professor at Penn State University, helped make arrangements for a visit by a group of beef researchers from Ireland.

Their Nebraska tour schedule is as follows: June 8--West Central Center in North Platte and Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory; June 9--Furnas County; June 10--Heartland Cattle Co. and Bull Service Station, McCook; June 11--Decatur County Feedyard, Oberlin, KS; June 12--MARC, Clay Center; June 14--Return to Dublin, Ireland.
