Sheep Industry Festival, sheep dog trial to be held in Kaycee

Plans for the 5th Annual Kaycee Sheep Industry Festival and Kaycee Challenge Sheep Dog Trial are scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 to 7.

This years' venue will feature 50 top Border Collies from California and Texas, all the way to Canada, vying for the $10,000 purse and the prized silver buckle.

New this year will be the live Range Ram Sale scheduled for Sept. 7, at 10:30 am. Buyers will have a chance to preview these rams throughout the weekend.

Fun wool handcrafts and interactive demonstrations will once again be available to all. Along with the wool fashion show and Peoples Choice Lamb Cook-Off on Sept. 5, there will be handicraft displays and contests for all. Sheep wagon displays, along with a wide variety of local and out of area vendors will help round out this annual Labor Day weekend event.

With free admission for the whole family, it gives folks a nice place to spend their holiday weekend. Anyone wishing to participate or "show off" their sheep wagon, their cooking skills, their handmade woolen garment or crafts, sell their wares, sell rams, or just wanting to prove their dogs' the best, call Lisa at 307-738-2244, Mary or Greg at 307-738-2256 or visit www.sheepfestival.net. For those interested in the sewing or handiwork activities, please call Monica at 307-738-2536.
