Kansas hosts Heartland Regional Junior Limousin Show


The Heartland Regional Junior Limousin Show was held June 6 in Ottawa, Kan. Exhibitors brought 106 entries from Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. Craig Steck, Bennington, Neb., evaluated their 10 steers, six bred-and-owned Limousin bulls, one bred-and-owned Lim-Flex® bull, 14 bred-and-owned Limousin females, 15 owned Lim-Flex females and 60 owned Limousin females.

Austen Etherton, Dawson, Ill., led the grand champion owned Limousin female. CFLX Mollys Image is a Jan. 31, 2008, daughter of DHVO Deuce 132R and was the Division 4 champion.

KRVN Twisted Sister 136T was the reserve grand champion owned Limousin female for Clay Schilling, Edson, Kan. The Sept. 2, 2007, daughter of GPFF Blaque Rulon was the Division 5 champion.

Etherton led EF Uptown Girl to grand-champion honors in the bred-and-owned Limousin female show. She is a Feb. 5, 2008, daughter of EF Main Stay 541M.

Kristopher Meyer, Witt, Ill., had the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned Limousinfemale in Legacy's Uniqua--an April 5, 2008, daughter of MAGS Starbucks.

Morgan Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan., earned grand-champion honors in the bred-and-owned Limousin bull show. MDRC Native 6004U is a March 1, 2008, son of EXLR Native 7133N.

The reserve grand champion bred-and-owned Limousin bull was GTBR Undertaker 6U. Garrett Butler, Lacona, Iowa, owns the March 4, 2008, son of Wulfs Ransom 3059R.

Schilling led the grand champion owned Lim-Flex female. Schilling's Unforgettable is an April 1, 2008, daughter of KRVN Naskar 013N out of FBF My Girl 629M.

EXLR Rebeca 059U was reserve grand champion owned Lim-Flex female for Etherton. She is a Feb. 19, 2008, daughter of Carrousels Pure Power out of EXLR Rebeca 1019P.

Drew Declerck, Dorsey, Ill., had the grand champion bred-and-owned Lim-Flex bull. DF Rapture is a Jan. 15, 2008, son of Dameron P V F Raptor 702 out of NBLF Hope 196L.

Derek Anderson, Garner, Iowa, won the steer show with RGMA Mario 225U--a 1,210-pound, halfblood son of HRF Hairy out of RGMA Phoebe 4076P. The reserve champion was JWBL Steer 43U--Butler's 1,193-pound, purebred son of ROMN Justice out of JWBL Cow 19N.

Etherton had the best pair of females.

In the showmanship contests, Reggie Thomas, Fulton, Mo., worked her way to the top of the Junior Division. Cheyanne Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan., claimed highest honors in the Intermediate Division. Scott Edwards, Higginsville, Mo., won the title of champion senior showman.

The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
