SD Stockgrowers invite all to June Quarterly in Philip, S.D.South Dakota South Dakota Stockgrowers Association has made plans to hold the 2009 June Quarterly in Philip, S.D., at the 73 Saloon Hall on June 9 and 10 according to Stockgrower Executive Director Margaret Nachtigall. "Everyone is invited and urged to attend," she added "The purpose of Quarterly Committee meetings is to enable farmers, ranchers and businesses in our small towns a chance to meet with Stockgrower directors with any concerns, problems, ideas they have so we can all work together in an effort to preserve and protect our rural heritage." Nachtigall briefly outlined the meeting as follows: "The meetings begin on June 9 with registration at 8 a.m., at the 73 Hall, 207 East Oak St. All committee meetings (unless stated otherwise) will be held on June 9 at the 73 Hall beginning with Animal Health and ID, at 9 a.m., chaired by Region 1 Vice President, Bill Kluck, Mud Butte; followed by Property Rights at 10 a.m., chaired by Craig Shaver, Sturgis; and Trade Committee at 10 a.m., on the Patio, chaired by Mike Maher, Isabel; Federal Lands Committee, chaired by Stockgrower member Mark Tubbs, Edgemont will commence at 11 a.m. Lunch break is at 12 p.m., with everyone dining at the place of their choice. The Brand and Theft Committee with Chairman Bill Hutchinson, White River, will begin at 1 p.m.,; followed at 2 p.m., by the Education/Taxation/Legislation Committee chaired by Chance Davis, Belle Fourche. Shane Kolb, Meadow will chair the Marketing Committee at 2:30 p.m.; with an ice tea/coffee break at 3:30 p.m. Events start again at 4 p.m., for the Wildlife Management Committee chaired by Mark DeVries, Belvidere; and at 4:45 p.m., the Ag and Natural Resources Committee chaired by Linda Gilbert, Buffalo finishes the day's round of meetings. Supper is available as a cook-your-own-steak at the 73 Saloon Hall at 6 p.m., followed by an interesting presentation by R-CALF CEO Bill Bullard, Billings Mont. The Board of Directors Meetings is planned for 9 a.m., June 10 at the 73 Saloon Hall. Again, this is an open meeting with Silvia Christen presenting information on organizational strategies and fund raising. District 9 Director Chuck O'Connor, Philip said, "The town of Philip is proud to host this Stockgrower meeting which gives the local area folks a good chance to take part in, and ask questions of, the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association."
