Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,365 head June 29, compared to 1,963 head last week and 1,251 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand were good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 1000-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 95%. The feeder supply included 52% steers, 1% bulls, and 47% heifers, with nearly 80% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 258 lbs., 127.00; 300 to 375 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.50 to 110.50; 625 to 675 lbs., 102.00 to 106.00, lot 693 lbs., fleshy 92.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.00 to 100.75; 800 to 875 lbs., 97.50 to 98.75; string 916 lbs., 93.50; lot 1023 lbs., 79.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 425 to 475 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.75 to 103.50; 625 to 650 lbs., 101.50 to 102.00; 725 to 775 lbs., 88.00 to 93.00; package 891 lbs., 90.00; 900 to 1000 lbs., 86.00 to 88.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 741 lbs., 84.50; package 819 lbs., 79.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 111.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 94.50 to 98.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 94.50 to 99.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 95.00 to 97.50, 600 to 675 lbs., fleshy 89.50 to 93.25; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.75 to 97.50; 825 to 850 lbs., 87.00 to 89.50, string 857 lbs., 92.25; lot 915 lbs., 84.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.50 to 54.50; low dressing, 39.50 to 43.50; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.25 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.50 to 55.00; low dressing, 39.50 to 43.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 43.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 40.50; 85 to 90 1000 to 1200 44.75 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 34.00 to 40.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 36.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1625 to 2085 lbs., 62.50 to 65.75; low dressing, 1145 lbs., 58.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1260 to 1405 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 625.00 to 750.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 675 to 1000 lbs., with 50- to 150-lb. calves, 500.00 to 660.00 per pair.
