Ft. Smith livestock sales report

The Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 586 head June 29, compared to 536 head last week and 446 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $5 higher. Feeder steers and heifers under 550 pounds were steady to $3 lower, over 550 pounds were $3 higher. The supply included 288 feeder calves, 200 feeder yearlings, 23 replacement cows, 64 slaughter cows, 11 slaughter bulls, and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 45% English breed and English crosses, 25% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 52.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 61.50 47.00 to 51.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 46.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 41.00 to 45.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 44.00 to 48.50; high dressing, 49.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 39.00 to 43.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 62.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 68.00 to 72.00; low dressing, 54.00 to 57.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 445 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00 (102.19); 500 to 545 lbs., 97.00 to 103.00 (99.21); 555 to 578 lbs., 99.00 to 101.00 (100.44); 600 to 643 lbs., 94.00 to 102.00 (97.05); 655 to 665 lbs., 90.00 to 96.00 (93.02); 700 to 720 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00 (86.74). Medium and large frame 2, 305 to 340 lbs., 101.00 to 113.00 (106.53); 357 to 398 lbs., 100.00 to 109.50 (105.08); 400 to 435 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00 (94.83); 455 to 495 lbs., 90.00 to 99.50 (94.03); 500 to 545 lbs., 85.00 to 96.00 (93.53); 550 to 595 lbs., 94.50 to 98.00 (96.65); 611 to 645 lbs., 90.00 to 93.50 (90.76); 655 to 670 lbs.,80.00 to 84.00 (82.02); 700 to 715 lbs., 75.00 to 82.00 (78.46).

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 4 years old, 650 to 1000 lbs., open cows, 57.50 to 67.50; 6+ years old, 800 to 1300 lbs., open cows, 46.00 to 54.00.
