Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 704 head June 29, compared to 557 head two weeks ago and 250 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows and bulls too lightly tested last sale for an accurate market trend this week. However, a higher undertone was noted on all classes. Buyer attendance was good with very good demand and active trade. The supply consisted of approximately 68% slaughter cow and bulls, and the balance is replacement cattle.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1105 to 1695 lbs., 50.25 to 54.25; high dressing, 54.25 to 55.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1080 to 1690 lbs., 51.00 to 54.75; low dressing, 47.00 to 50.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 905 to 1370 lbs., 48.00 to 51.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 47.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1260 to 2260 lbs., 60.00 to 65.00; high dressing, 65.25 to 68.50; low dressing, 55.00 to 60.00.

Heiferettes: Two years old, 830 to 990 lbs., 71.50 to 78.50; three years old, 1060 to 1275 lbs., 60.00 to 69.00; young, 1095 to 1520 lbs., 52.00 to 57.75.
