Amarillo livestock sales report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 712 head June 30, compared to 838 head last week, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not enough to have an adequate market test except on 700- to 800-pound heifers which were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were not enough for an adequate market test. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 448 lbs., 112.00; lot 697 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 675 to 700 lbs., 72.50 to 79.50; pen 721 lbs., 82.00. Medium and large frame 3, pen 478 lbs., 74.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 89.00 to 91.00; 700 to 710 lbs., 80.00 to 83.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 305 lbs., 117.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 317 lbs., 98.00; 480 to 500 lbs., 90.00; two loads 798 lbs., 92.85. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 614 lbs., 71.50.

Holstein feeder: Heifers and heiferettes, Large frame 3, 800 to 1200 lbs., 47.50 to 56.50.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 50.25; low dressing, 55.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.50; high dressing, 53.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 41.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.50 to 49.00.

Dairy cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1900 lbs., 50.00 to 54.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1700 lbs., 46.50 to 50.75; high dressing, 51.00 to 54.35. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 140 lbs., 40.50 to 48.00; high dressing, 48.50 to 50.00; low dressing, 30.00 to 38.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1800 lbs., 55.50 to 62.50; dairy bulls, 1300 to 1700 lbs., 53.50 to 57.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to aged, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, 585.00 to 735.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 50- to 200-lb. calves, 810.00 to 910.00 per pair.
