Pratt cattle sales reportPratt Livestock Sales, Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 357 head June 18, compared to 371 head last week and 1,598 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, wheat producers are aggressively harvesting the 2009 wheat crop, most cattle auctions in the state are shut down for wheat harvest. There were not enough steers or heifers for a market test, limited sales were steady. Slaughter cows were $3 to $6 higher. Slaughter bulls were firm. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 71% 600 pounds and over, 4% 600 pounds and under, 25% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 22% steers and 78% heifers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 2, 650 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 98.25 (97.71); 10 head, 848 lbs., 93.50. Large frame 3, Holsteins 8 head, 871 lbs., 58.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 700 to 750 lbs., 91.75 to 92.75 (92.45); 60 head, 833 lbs., 89.35; 5 head, 926 lbs., 78.00. Medium and large frame 2, 18 head, 757 lbs., 88.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 80.00 to 83.25 (82.50). Baby calves: Per head, steers and/or bulls, 2 head, 55 to 85 lbs., 30.00 to 55.00 (39.82); heifers 5 head, 243 to 245 lbs., 235.00 to 270.00 (262.95); 1 head, 90 lbs., 35.00.
